What is First Year Together (FYT)? <\/strong><\/h3>\n

The First Year Together is a community of practice designed around the premise that learning more about the context(s) of the first-year experience from the multiple perspectives enriches our ability to support student success and professional achievement. Hear insights, learn about resources, and share your experience alongside faculty, student partners, and staff colleagues. Additionally, FYT will provide access to the insights, recommendations, and consultations with trained student partners committed to elevating the undergraduate perspective in our work. Join us for one meeting or for all. Upon registration, you will receive reminders for each meeting.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The FYT Community of Practice meets from 2:00 \u2013 3:00 pm in Cline Room 200 and on Zoom on the following Wednesdays during the 2026 spring semester.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nPaying for College- <\/strong>Did you know that financial aid and paying for college has likely changed DRASTICALLY since you graduated? Join us for a conversation with the Office of Student Financial Aid to learn how aid is packaged, what students commonly face, how much a college education costs, and how you can support them as they move through this complicated landscape.<\/p>\n

\nMy Attendance Sucks- <\/strong>Absenteeism is a major problem since COVID. We are all struggling with it, whether we are classroom instructors or staff being stood up on student meetings. Join a conversation with our friends and colleagues from the English department to explore their attendance study, what it reveals, and think through possibilities moving forward. Register<\/a><\/p>\n

April 15
\nFinding the First Year<\/strong>– Cody Canning, FYT \u201clead learner\u201d and FYS Teaching Professor and Director, will be<\/em> the panel guest this time to discuss his arts-based research on the collective experience of the first-year. It will be a blast, just come. Register<\/a><\/p>\n\n
