Campus Fee Reduction Request
Flagstaff Campus Fees
Students have access to additional campus services and activities. Fees for these opportunities are assessed in addition to tuition. For example, the Health and Recreation Fee supports various services at the Health and Learning Center facility including recreation, counseling, and medical services. See the Student and Departmental Account Services website for all additional fee descriptions. The Campus Fee Reduction Request, if approved, applies to the following fees: Health and Recreation fee, Student Activity fee, Green fee, ASNAU or GSG fee, and the Athletics fee. It does not apply to the Financial Aid Trust fee, Information Technology fee, college fees, or to program fees managed by academic departments. Transportation fee reductions are handled separately by University Transit Services.
Reduction Requirements
Flagstaff campus students can request a 25% reduction of these fees if they meet the following requirements:
- The student will not be attending classes on the Flagstaff campus for the entire duration of the semester for which they are requesting a reduction AND
- The student is involved in research, an internship, or student teaching that keeps them away from the Flagstaff campus. The student’s internship/externship, teaching placement, or research position must be reflected in their course enrollment.
Deadlines
Deadlines to submit a Campus Fee Reduction Request differ according to the term:
- Fall or Spring: The last day to add or drop courses for the 16 Week session (AKA “Mountain Regular” session). This date varies from year-to-year. You can check this date by selecting the appropriate term on the Registrar’s Important Dates webpage.
- Summer: July 6th
- Winter: Campus Fee Reductions are not considered because campus fees are not assessed for Winter courses.
NAU Opt-In Fees
NAU offers opt-in fees for 2NAU and Non-Flagstaff Mountain students. You can take advantage of the same services as Flagstaff Mountain students by requesting to opt in for the mandatory tuition fees. You can find more information on what the fees cover on SDAS Additional Fee Descriptions.

Opt-in fees: Frequently asked questions
The access fee is an optional opt-in fee that will allow you to participate in events and receive services at Campus Health Services and Campus Recreation.
The Health and Recreation access fee allows you to utilize Campus Health Services (CHS), including Medical, Counseling, and Campus Recreation services. The fee DOES NOT cover: CHS Service Costs. When you visit a healthcare provider at CHS, there will be additional costs for specific services such as medical consultations, treatments, lab tests, or counseling. These costs are not included in the access fee and need to be paid separately.

Summer: all NAU Flagstaff Mountain students who are not enrolled in a summer session but are eligible to enroll in the future fall term.
Fall, Spring, and Summer: 2NAU students and Non Flagstaff Mountain Campus NAU students.

Yes, to access services, you must pay the full access fee.
Services will be available to you the day after you submit your payment. However, if you have a receipt for full payment, you can show it to staff at the location, and they can provide access to the requested service.
No, because you were charged the mandatory fee, you will not have to pay the access fee to utilize services.
