Visioning 2025
Northern Arizona University is committed to continued future advancement
Northern Arizona University engaged in Visioning 2025—an extensive process to update our university-wide strategic plan to align our mission, vision, values, goals, and strategies with our future.
Intensive input and deliberation has involved more than 1,700 internal and external stakeholders, selected to maximize the diversity of perspectives reflected within the NAU community. They include senior administration, deans, program directors, department chairs, faculty (tenured and non-tenured), administrative and program staff, graduate and undergraduate students, alumni, Flagstaff community leaders, non-Flagstaff campuses, the Strategic Planning and Budget Council, and the President’s Executive Committee.
In early 2017, a draft of the mission, vision, values, and strategic goals was reviewed with stakeholders to help understand how these proposed statements were perceived and how they could be strengthened. Throughout summer 2017, representatives from the Strategic Planning and Budget Council worked to incorporate the feedback from those stakeholders into a final draft. This draft was then presented to campus focus groups in December 2017. Additional discussion, feedback and refinements were made to the draft in Spring 2018.
This process resulted in a comprehensive, well-articulated plan that generates pride, conviction, and passion about NAU and its future as well as serves as a strategic guide for our resources and collective efforts.
This extensive process ensured that we are not passive participants content just to celebrate our university’s past, but are envisioning our future and higher levels of achievement that position NAU to meet the ABOR Enterprise 2025 metric targets that are before us.
