{"id":608,"date":"2018-07-16T17:21:41","date_gmt":"2018-07-16T17:21:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nau.edu\/music\/?page_id=608"},"modified":"2025-05-22T12:02:52","modified_gmt":"2025-05-22T19:02:52","slug":"symphonic-band","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/school-music\/performance-areas\/bands\/ensembles\/symphonic-band\/","title":{"rendered":"Symphonic Band"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Symphonic Band<\/h1>\n<p>The Symphonic Band performs a variety of historically significant works for band, as well as transcriptions that are considered to be the core repertoire of the wind medium.<\/p>\n<p>The Symphonic Band provides essential knowledge for music performance and music education majors.<\/p>\n<h2>Join<\/h2>\n<p>We encourage students from all colleges at Northern Arizona University to join.<\/p>\n<p>Membership in the Symphonic Band requires an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/school-music\/bands\/auditions\/\">concert ensemble audition<\/a>, which takes place before the beginning of each semester.<\/p>\n<h3>Enrollment<\/h3>\n<p>If you are accepted you will need to enroll in one of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Freshman: MUP 170, Section 05<\/li>\n<li>Sophomore: MUP 270, Section 05<\/li>\n<li>Junior: MUP 370, Section 05<\/li>\n<li>Senior: MUP 470, Section 05<\/li>\n<li>Graduate: MUP 670, Section 05<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Schedule<\/h2>\n<h3>Rehearsals<\/h3>\n<p>The schedule is:<\/p>\n<h4>Fall semester<\/h4>\n<p>Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 1:50 p.m. to 2:40 p.m.<\/p>\n<h4>Spring semester<\/h4>\n<p>Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 1:50 p.m. to 3:10 p.m.<\/p>\n<h3>Performances<\/h3>\n<p>The Symphonic Band also presents several\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/school-music\/programs-events\/events-calendar\/\">concerts<\/a>\u00a0each season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Symphonic Band The Symphonic Band performs a variety of historically significant works for band, as well as transcriptions that are considered to be the core repertoire of the wind medium.
