In addition to music majors and minors, we welcome undergraduate and graduate students from all programs of study to create a thriving choral community. NAU\u2019s choirs pride themselves in achieving musical excellence in an inclusive and supportive setting. All types of singers\u2014from beginners to advanced singers\u2014are welcome. We want to get to know you and hear your passion for singing! This process helps us identify your ensemble and voice part\/range.<\/p>\n<h3>Audition materials<\/h3>\n<p>To access the audition materials for this upcoming semester, please complete the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ac.nau.edu\/lms-apps\/self-enroll\/500279\">Self-enroll<\/a> in the Canvas course \u201cEnsemble Placement Reference\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>Log into <a href=\"https:\/\/canvas.nau.edu\/\">Canvas<\/a> by using your NAU ID.<\/li>\n<li>On the <a href=\"https:\/\/canvas.nau.edu\/courses\/41192\">Ensemble Placement Reference<\/a> home page, &#8220;select choir&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>Fill out the Choral Studies Audition form and the Choir Audition Time form.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>At your audition we will: explore your range, sing a song, and (if appropriate) sight-sing.<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>We will explore your vocal range through brief exercises.<\/li>\n<li>You will sing for us! You may choose to:\n<ul>\n<li>bring your own prepared song. Some examples of prepared songs include art songs or arias, musical theater songs, folk songs from around the world, or a choir song you\u2019ve\u00a0 sung before. Those interested in vocal jazz should choose to sing a short part of a jazz standard. If you bring a prepared song and you\u2019d like piano accompaniment, please bring the sheet music.<\/li>\n<li>sing a well-known piece for which we will have sheet music, including: <em>My Country \u2018Tis of Thee<\/em>, <em>We Shall Overcome<\/em>, <em>Lift Ev\u2019ry Voice and Sing<\/em>, <em>Amazing Grace<\/em>, or <em>Happy\u00a0 <\/em><em>Birthday<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>We will ask those who read music to sight-read and sing a short excerpt.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>Questions?
