Communication Studies Graduate Certificate<\/h1>\n

Overview:<\/h4>\n

The graduate certificate in Communication Studies provides an understanding of the breadth and history of the study of human communication, a survey of communication theories, and a range of coursework in specialized areas within the discipline. Students who complete this certificate will enhance their understanding of and ability to articulate the ways in which communication is affected by specific contexts, including but not limited to the interpersonal, organizational, and public communication contexts.<\/p>\n

The graduate certificate in Communication Studies is available entirely online or through a combination of on-campus and online courses.<\/p>\n

Application Materials:<\/h4>\n

To apply for admission into the graduate certificate in Communication Studies, prepare the following materials:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. A scanned copy of your transcripts.\u00a0 Unofficial transcripts are acceptable for your initial application, but official copies will be required before your admission is finalized to confirm that you have earned a bachelor\u2019s degree from a regionally accredited institution.<\/li>\n
  2. A current resume or curriculum vita.<\/li>\n
  3. A personal statement (typically, 1-2 pages) outlining your career and educational goals, your specific interest in the graduate certificate in Communication Studies, and any other information you deem relevant to the admissions decision.<\/li>\n
  4. Two recommenders.\u00a0 Two letters of recommendation should be from professionals or educators who are in a position to comment upon your preparation and ability to succeed in a graduate program.\u00a0 Identify two individuals who are willing to write such a letter, and be prepared to input their names, professional affiliation, phone, and email address in the online application system.\u00a0 Upon final submission of your application, these individuals will be sent an email directing them to the online recommendation system.\u00a0 Please stress to your recommenders that their letters should be specific and substantive in terms of addressing qualities, training, and experiences that are relevant to your ability to engage in graduate-level education.\u00a0 Your recommenders will have the choice to use an online form or to upload a prepared letter (.pdf or .doc format).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
