Required program elements include, but are not limited to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0 New employee training<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0 <a title=\"Emergency plan\" href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/ready\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Emergency plan<\/a><\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0 Safety inspections for grounds, equipment, and machinery<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0 <a title=\"Accident\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/risk-management\/damage-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Accident<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/risk-management\/third-party-report-of-injury\/\">Third-Party Report of Injury<\/a>\u00a0and investigation<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0 <a title=\"Maintenanceprogram for state-owned vehicles\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/university-transit-services\/fleet-services\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Maintenance program for state-owned vehicles<\/a><\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0 <a title=\"Fire and lifesafety\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/facility-services\/office-of-the-fire-marshal\/\">Fire and life safety<\/a><\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0 <a title=\"Environmentalprotection program\" href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/Research\/Compliance\/Environmental-Health-and-Safety\/Environmental-Compliance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Environmental protection program<\/a><\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0 <a title=\"EnvironmentalHealth and Safety program\" href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/Research\/Compliance\/Environmental-Health-and-Safety\/Topics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Environmental Health and Safety program<\/a><\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/university-transit-services\/fleet-services\/\">Motor vehicle safety program<\/a><\/li>\n<li>\u00a0 \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/environmental-health-and-safety\/occupational-safety\/\"> Construction site safety training<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Northern Arizona University Loss Prevention Program is comprised of the following main components:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Policy Statement:<\/strong> The loss prevention <a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.nau.edu\/university-policy-library\/loss-prevention\/\">policy statement<\/a>, written by Northern Arizona University\u2019s President, is written to inform the Northern Arizona University community of loss prevention efforts and to establish the expectation that every employee be an active participant in those efforts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Loss Prevention Coordinator:<\/strong> Each state agency lead must designate in writing a loss prevention coordinator. This role is established to coordinate campus wide loss prevention efforts and to serve as a liaison between active departments. The University&#8217;s dedicated loss prevention coordinator is Emily McBride.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Written Manual: <\/strong>The <a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/26\/Loss-Prevention-Manual.pdf\">Loss Prevention Manual<\/a> is written to inform Northern Arizona University employees of applicable loss prevention efforts and requirements, and to assist employees in appropriate responses to loss events.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Loss Prevention Committee:<\/strong> The University Safety and Stewardship Committee is comprised of representatives of Northern Arizona University departments which serve major roles in the university\u2019s loss prevention efforts. This group meets quarterly, reviews losses, identifies trends, and develops corrective measures to reduce those losses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Employee Training:<\/strong> All employees must be trained in the Loss Prevention Program. Training content may vary by job assignment.
