{"id":13,"date":"2018-06-21T03:16:09","date_gmt":"2018-06-21T10:16:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/vendor.hub.wp.nau.edu\/risk-management\/mexican-automobile-insurance\/"},"modified":"2025-10-24T02:22:27","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T02:22:27","slug":"mexican-automobile-insurance","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/risk-management\/mexican-automobile-insurance\/","title":{"rendered":"Mexican Automobile Insurance"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Mexican Automobile Insurance<\/h1>\n<p>A Mexican Automobile Insurance program through State Risk Management covers university vehicles traveling into Mexico.\u00a0 Prior to the trip,\u00a0<strong>University travelers must obtain a Mexican Insurance Packet<\/strong>, specific to each vehicle, from Risk Management.<\/p>\n<p>Mexican law only recognizes insurance coverage issued by Mexican insurance companies.\u00a0 The Mexican government (and police) does not recognize policies written by American insurance companies, even if that policy has Mexican coverage.<\/p>\n<p>To comply with Mexican requirements, each packet is University vehicle specific and contains the Tourist Vehicle Identification Card, copy of the vehicle title, and information from State Risk Management.\u00a0 Employees should obtain written authorization (on NAU stationary) from their Dean or supervisor granting them permission to drive a State vehicle into Mexico on University business.\u00a0 When the employee returns to the University, return all insurance packets to Risk Management (P. O.
