The RDY Lab was created to give motivated students the opportunity to get hands on experience doing quantitative and qualitative data analysis. Ideally, the lab is looking for sophomore-level students so that you have enough time to develop your skills and interests under the guidance of the lab.<\/p>\n<p>The lab has a rotation of data collection <a href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/richard-d-young-lab\/research\/\">research projects<\/a> in the field, providing up to date survey data on several political and social issues. The lab is also a working research hub modeled after real-world professional consultant services that our Director provides in the private sector. The lab regularly participates in collaborative survey research projects with academics around the country and our director works with consultants that advises non-profit organizations, education campaigns, and advocacy groups.&nbsp; The topics range the political, social, and economic landscape. The lab gives you the infrastructure needed to use this data to work on your own research skills. Every student who works with the lab will develop the basic skills to do quantitative research and communicate their research findings in an academic and public-intellectual setting. Go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/about.citiprogram.org\/\">CITI Website<\/a> and get an account. It&rsquo;s free. Complete the Human Subjects Research (Basic Course) module and the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) module. Print out the CITI certificates and send a copy to the lab.<\/li>\n<li>Go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.overleaf.com\">Overleaf<\/a> website and sign up for a free account.<\/li>\n<li>Go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zotero.org\/\">Zotero<\/a> website and sign up for a free account.<\/li>\n<li>Install <a href=\"https:\/\/posit.co\/download\/rstudio-desktop\/\">R and RStudio<\/a> on to your personal computer or laptop.<\/li>\n<li>Create a personal website using <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\">Google Sites<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canva.com\/\">Canva<\/a>. Students are not eligible to apply, but the lab can apply for funding to support you if you satisfy the requirements above.
