Please write a proposal (1 – 3 pages in length) that provides a narrative description of the project you intend to carry out. The narrative should include a description of research, any progress on the project to date and the budget justification. A bibliography should also be included in addition to this narrative. It is critical that the proposal be written in a manner that someone outside your field will be able to understand the importance of the project and your proposed work plan.

Please utilize the following format in a 12-point font with one inch margins and include the following:

Section I – PROJECT NARRATIVE (heading)

  1. Description of Research: State the student’s research topic/question(s) being investigated; demonstrate the relevance of this work to the discipline; describe how the project is innovative; briefly outline the study methodology.
  2. Progress to Date: Describe the work that the student has done thus far.
  3. Budget Justifications: Provide a justification for the project costs requested in this application. For each participant, provide start/end dates, total salary amount for key personnel, hourly rates for student wages, and explain the participant’s role in the project and how they are qualified to fulfill their role. Include a brief description for any materials, supplies, or travel requests. Applications requesting summer salary for Principal Investigators must describe what will be worked on during the summer and what it is necessary to meet the goals of the projects.
