In addition, the systems and methods allow for the simultaneous amplification of multiple amplicon targets in a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with universal indexing. In turn, this can help minimize barcoding, when hundreds or thousands of samples are involved. Additionally, the technology can be configured to enable relatively inexpensive and efficient preparation of samples for use with downstream sequencing platforms.
