The IRB makes a determination of risk in determining the period of approval. Reapproval is&nbsp;<strong>required<\/strong>&nbsp;before the expiration of the study. Federal regulations do not allow for a grace period after a project\u2019s approval period expires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Projects that are not reapproved by the expiration date of the study will be administratively closed by the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP). If the approval of human research expires,\u00a0<strong>all<\/strong>\u00a0human research procedures related to the protocol under review must cease, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recruitment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advertisement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Screening<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enrollment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consent<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interventions and interactions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collection and data analysis of private identifiable information<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The principal investigator will be restricted from submitting new human research to the HRPP until a completed&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/research\/research-compliance\/human-research-protection-program\/irb-submission-process\/continuing-review\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"2635\">Continuing Review Closure Form<\/a>&nbsp;has been received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If current subjects will be harmed by stopping research procedures (e.g. those procedures specifically for human research), immediately contact the HRPP office. You will be asked to provide:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A coded list of the currently enrolled subjects,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>what procedures must be continued, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>in what way(s) subjects will be harmed by stopping human research procedures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While permission may be granted to continue providing research procedures, no research data can be collected outside of the IRB approval period.
