Funded projects may include interpretive, creative, historical, quantitative, or qualitative scholarship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">General rules for intramural funding 0pportunities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This program is subject to overarching rules and guidelines in place for all intramural programs. A summary of these rules may be found under the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/research\/research-resources-opportunities\/impact-opportunities\/intramural-funding\/intramural-terms-conditions\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"2001\">General Rules for Intramural Funding Opportunities<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Graduate students enrolled in NAU are eligible to apply for this award. The student must identify a full-time faculty as an advisor. The faculty must qualify as a PI under NAU\u2019s PI Policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Faculty advisors are expected to assist the student with oversight of the awarded project, including providing academic mentorship, facilitating access to relevant facilities and resources, ensuring compliance with university policies and applicable regulations, and supporting the student&#8217;s successful completion of the project objectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In order to be eligible for support through the SGS program, the graduate student applicant must be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In good standing (at the time of application and the time of award).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Making good progress toward degree completion in a&nbsp;<strong>graduate degree program that requires independent research\/scholarship<\/strong>, including those culminating in a theses or dissertation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 \/>\nThe award period will be stated in the award letter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligible Uses of Award Funds<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Award funds must be used according to the requirements set forth in the \u201cAllowable and Unallowable Costs\u201d section of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/research\/research-resources-opportunities\/impact-opportunities\/intramural-funding\/intramural-terms-conditions\/\">General Rules for Intramural Funding Opportunities<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The following program-specific rules also apply.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The SGS award funds may not be used to support:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reimbursement of costs incurred outside of the award period (e.g., student may not use the SGS funds to reimburse themself for supplies purchased before the start date of the SGS grant)<\/li>\n<li>Laptops, computing equipment, or other general electronic devices<\/li>\n<li>Travel for the applicant to attend conferences<\/li>\n<li>Costs associated with the faculty sponsor\u2019s research, including (but not limited to) travel<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<div class=\"accordion-item\">\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"accordion-header\" Narrative Template<\/a> provided. The document must be saved as a PDF. Preference may be given to students who are not currently supported through a research assistantship or graduate fellowship. Please pay close attention to the deadlines stated in the letter.<\/div>\n<div role=\"presentation\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\" role=\"presentation\">As a Principal Investigator, you are responsible for managing your award and for <i>keeping expenditures within the limits of the approved budget categories<\/i>. All expenditures made with these funds must conform to university accounting policies and procedures that generally apply to state funds and should be consistent with the \u201cPlanned Work\/Methods\u201d and \u201cUse of Funds\u201d sections of your proposal.<\/div>\n<div role=\"presentation\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\" role=\"presentation\">A final project narrative report describing the activities conducted under this grant is due <b>generally one month after your award ends, or once you have completed your research project<\/b>. This report should not exceed 2 pages and should describe the extent to which project tasks and goals were accomplished.
