all graduate students who wish to have their degree or Graduate Certificate awarded from Northern Arizona University must submit a graduation application. <em>Please see graduation application directions below.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>A separate graduation application is required for each Master&rsquo;s degree, Doctoral degree, and Graduate Certificate.<\/li>\n<li>A nonrefundable $50 graduation application fee is charged with each submission, and cannot be waived for any circumstances. Directions<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Applying for graduation is a <strong>two-part<\/strong> process.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Part 1: Verifying Your Progress Towards Graduation.\n<ul>\n<li>Due to NAU&#8217;s multi-year transition from Programs of Study to the Graduate Academic Advisement Report, there are two possible verification methods.<\/li>\n<li>Your verification method will depend on the semester you intend to graduate in, and whether you are graduating from a <a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/Graduate-AAR-First-Wave-Programs.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" At that time:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The student&rsquo;s graduation application status will update to &ldquo;Degree Awarded.&rdquo;<\/li>\n<li>The student&rsquo;s degree or Graduate Certificate will post to the student&rsquo;s transcript.<\/li>\n<li>The student&rsquo;s diploma will be ordered by NAU to be delivered to the student&rsquo;s diploma address.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students will be notified of their awarded degree and\/or Graduate Certificate via email.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Graduation Deadlines for Theses and Dissertations<\/h3>\n<p>View <a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.nau.edu\/graduate-professional-studies\/thesis-and-dissertation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NAU&#8217;s Thesis and Dissertation webpage<\/a> to find the last day to hold a thesis\/dissertation defense, and the deadline to upload the final version of your thesis\/dissertation to ProQuest.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Academic Recognition<\/h3>\n<p>At the time of graduation, if you have earned a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.90 or higher for all courses taken as a graduate student at Northern Arizona University, you will be recognized with the notation of &#8220;with distinction&#8221; on your transcript and diploma.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>What if I do not meet the requirements to graduate?<\/h3>\n<p>Students may request their application to be withdrawn by contacting <a href=\"mailto:GradGraduation@nau.edu\">GradGraduation@nau.edu<\/a>. If an application is not withdrawn and OGPS finds that the student does not qualify for graduation during final review, the application will be denied.<\/p>\n<p>The student will need to submit a new graduation application for their updated graduation term.
