The following tutorials provide the training necessary for the protection of student information. There is additional information provided by the Office of the Registrar. If you are a new employee, click the \u201cBegin FERPA Training in Canvas\u201d button.<\/p>\n<p>The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 provides two main functions, just at the title implies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To grant students <strong>rights<\/strong> regarding information that universities and colleges maintain about them, and<\/li>\n<li>To preserve the <strong>privacy<\/strong> of that information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>First, let&#8217;s consider a few important points about students&#8217; and families&#8217; rights.
