Transfer Plan 2025-2026


Elementary Education, Yavapai College

NAU Transfer Plans are a unique tool designed to help guide your academic journey from community college to NAU. The plan below is for the following program: Associate of Arts in Elementary Education transfer to Northern Arizona University’s Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.

To be completed at Yavapai College

  • AGEC The Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC) is the foundation of a community college education in Arizona. Successfully completing the AGEC means all AGEC courses will transfer as a block to NAU. An AGEC is incorporated into the AAEE at Yavapai College. Some degree requirements will also fill AGEC requirements. The following course will meet program requirements and AGEC requirements:
    • ECE 234
    • Child Development
  • Preprofessional Requirements – multi-use credits, may also fill AGEC or Associate degree requirements.
    • 6 credits of Written Communication with an average GPA of 3.0 or better.
    • 4 credits of Natural Sciences that will also satisfy the NAU Scientific Methods course requirement.
    • EDU 200 – Introduction to Education
    • MAT 156 – Mathematics for Elementary Teachers
    • MAT 157 – Mathematics for Elementary Teachers II
  • Not required for admission, but highly recommended to be completed at your community college prior to beginning your NAU program.
    • EDU 222 – Introduction to the Exceptional Learner
    • AJS 290 – Constitutional Law: Civil Liberties and Civil Rights
  • Additional transferable credits if needed. Work with your Community College advisor and your NAU Transfer Representative to identify which courses transfer to NAU and the best time to apply.

  • Additional courses needed to total 56 credits at NAU, 120 total credits, and complete a concentration.

Additional information

  • This program is available in person in Flagstaff, at Chandler-Gilbert CC, Glendale CC, Phoenix College, Mohave College, Yavapai County, Yuma, and Online.
  • NAU’s Professional Education Programs require a secondary application. Work with your Community College advisor and your NAU Transfer Representative to be sure you are ready.
  • A minimum cumulative GPA 2.5 is required.
  • An IVP fingerprint clearance card is required.
  • This program is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation
