University property cannot be given away or discarded. The Surplus Property department is the only University department authorized to dispose of University property.<\/p>\n<p>The primary role of Surplus Property is to ensure that excess property is compliant with applicable regulations and policies and is managed in a way that maximizes value for the University. Below are procedures to submit a Disposal Request:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Pick-Ups and Drop-Offs<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Surplus Property accepts excess property and equipment that departments no longer need. Process for disposal:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gather items in one area.<\/li>\n<li>Confirm with appropriate departmental leadership that items are no longer needed for department use.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure all computers and data-sensitive equipment are properly wiped before sending to Surplus Property.<\/li>\n<li>Empty desks and file cabinets completely.<\/li>\n<li>Submit a disposal request through <a href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/property-surplus\/webdata-2-0\/\"><strong>WebData 2.0<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Contact Surplus Property at <strong>928-523-4163<\/strong> or <a href=\"mailto:NAU-PropertySurplus@nau.edu\"><strong>NAU-PropertySurplus@nau.edu<\/strong><\/a> during business hours to schedule a pick-up or drop-off.\n<ul>\n<li>Public sale hours are <strong>12:00 p.m. \u2013 4:00 p.m.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Pick-ups and drop-offs can only be scheduled <strong>8:00 a.m. \u2013 11:00 a.m.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Large pickups may require the department to create a service ticket for Moving Services.\u00a0 These services may be billable. An appointment with Surplus Property is required before scheduling movers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>2. Disposal Fees<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Surplus Property prioritizes the sale or recycling of materials whenever possible. However, certain items require disposal through outside vendors due to environmental safety regulations. In such cases, associated disposal fees may be charged to the initiating department. Examples include (but are not limited to):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Refrigerators<\/li>\n<li>CRT monitors<\/li>\n<li>Televisions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>3. Department Purchases<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Surplus Property offers cost-effective alternatives to buying new equipment. Visit the warehouse (Building 77) during public hours, <strong>Monday\u2013Friday, 12:00 p.m. \u2013 4:00 p.m.<\/strong> Special appointments outside of public hours can be arranged.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4.\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Credits to Departments<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Departments may receive credit when a single item is sold for more than <strong>$2,000 (before tax)<\/strong>.
