You will need 6 pieces of tagboard, each piece 12″ X 18″. Follow these picture directions<\/a> to build your pockets.<\/p>\n

Portfolio Title Pages<\/a><\/p>\n

Pocket 1: The Pinyon Pine<\/h3>\n

You will have 5 pages to put in this pocket.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Print out My Pinyon Facts<\/a>.\u00a0Use your notebook and activities from Task 1 to help you write at least three facts about\u00a0Pinyon Pine trees. Draw or paste pictures on the bottom of the page.<\/li>\n
  2. Print out the Two Needle Coloring Page<\/a>.\u00a0Read the paragraph and color the picture.<\/li>\n
  3. Print out the Single Needle Coloring Page<\/a>.\u00a0Color the picture.<\/li>\n
  4. Print out the Southwest Map of Pinyon Pine Trees<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  5. Use this website and print out the U.S. map with the range of the two needle pinyon.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    There will be a long list of names of plants. Looking at the third column of the list,\u00a0scroll down until you find Pinus edulis<\/em>. The list is in a-b-c order. Click on the Graphic(PDF)\u00a0in the first column and you will find a map to print.<\/p>\n

    Pocket 2: Climate Change<\/h3>\n
      \n
    1. Put in the results of your experiment with the effects of temperature on water.<\/li>\n
    2. Put in your solutions for climate change from Task 6.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Pocket 3: The Scale Insect<\/h3>\n
        \n
      1. Put in your drawings of the life cycle of the scale insect. Make sure you have labeled with correct spelling and have neat work.<\/li>\n
      2. Write a paragraph: When the weather is hotter and there is less rain, what do you predict\u00a0will happen to the number of scale on pinyon trees? Will the trees be hurt by this?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Pocket 4: Data Analysis<\/h3>\n

        1. Put in your log of your local weather.<\/li>\n
        2. Put in your predictions for any changes in the weather that might be coming up. What\u00a0are your reasons for predicting these changes?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Pocket 5: Native American Uses of Pinyon Pine<\/h3>\n

          1. Put in your student sheet of notes from Task 5.<\/li>\n
          2. Write a paragraph: What do you think would happen to Native American traditions if\u00a0there were much fewer pinyon pine or if they were no longer available in the areas\u00a0where they are used?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
