There are so many out there, but this one really sets itself apart from the others.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-landscape-image wp-image-1784 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/176\/sugarloaf2-464x348.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"464\" height=\"348\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sugarloaf Peak is a relatively short (~2 miles) and beautiful hike that will leave you questioning yourself, \u201cwhy didn\u2019t I hike this sooner\u201d. This is because the circle beauty that will surround you once you reach the summit. As you hike the 40 degree angled mountain, you won\u2019t be able to help but look behind you at the snow-capped inner basin of the San Francisco Peaks (as seen in the picture above). Once you reach the top, you\u2019ll be able to see all of the surrounding mountains, the San Francisco Peaks, the Wupatki National Forest, and even the Grand Canyon. I highly recommend this hike as it is beautiful, short, and challenging, yet very rewarding.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-landscape-image wp-image-1783 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/176\/sugarloaf-464x348.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"464\" height=\"348\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>Directions: <\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Get on I-40 E from E Butler Ave for 2.4 mi<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drive along US-89 N for 14.7 mi<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take a left on Service road 395 and stay on it for ~5 mi<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Park at the Lockett Meadows parking lot and Sugarloaf is directly behind you<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<!-- shortcode-block-quote -->\n<div class=\"shortcode-block-quote shortcode-block-quote--right\">\n    <div class=\"shortcode-block-quote__inner-container\">\n        <span>Zach K.<\/span>\n    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you\u2019re bored on a weekend and find that you want to get outdoors and explore the Arizona scenery, then this challenging hike is definitely the way to go!
