With all of the hikes that have been addressed in this blog, this is by far one of the coolest and most forgiving. The entirety of the hike consists of beautiful pine trees, forgiving terrain, and inconceivably beautiful scenery. The trail is very well maintained and is considered to be a fantastic entry level hike. All throughout the ascent, you\u2019ll be greeted to encapsulating signs that describe the surrounding nature and the <\/span>vegetation that is in the area.<\/span><\/p>\n

Slate Mountain is a fairly easy hike that deserves to be recognized. It is a beautiful 2.4-mile trail that promotes positivity and love for nature. It is great for beginners in that it only climbs about 800 feet, and the average grade is only about 4-5%. Slate Mountain is one of the few mountains in the San Francisco range that gives you a clear view of the major peaks as well as a clear cut scene of the Grand Canyon. It is arguably, that once you\u2019ve submitted the 8,<\/span>215\u2019 mountain, that you\u2019ll be welcomed to one of the best views in Flagstaff.<\/p>\n

  1. Follow S Beaver St and W Butler Ave to W Historic Rte 66\/S Milton Rd for 0.5 miles<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Follow US-180 W\/N Fort Valley Rd towards the Grand Canyon for 27 miles<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Turn Left onto FR-191 (not 191c) and drive for 2 miles<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Once you reach the trailhead, park and start the hike<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Hike for 2.4 miles<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n
