The Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity is pleased to offer research mini-grants for undergraduate student research, scholarship, and creative activity. The Jean Shuler Research Mini-Grant is designed to promote scholarly student research under the guidance of a faculty mentor. Students should propose the research, scholarly, or creative project to a faculty mentor for collaboration. These grants provide students with financial support of up to $500 for consumable materials, training fees, or travel expenses related to completing a project. Mini-grants may not be used to pay salaries or for gifts. Only one mini-grant will be awarded per undergraduate career.<\/p>\n\n

Applications will be accepted on a per semester basis for the academic year. All completed applications will be reviewed by a committee and at least four mini-grants will be awarded each semester. Faculty and students should work together to prepare the requirements listed in the proposal requirements.<\/p>\n

Students who receive a Jean Shuler Research Mini-Grant will be expected to carry out the research project as described in the proposal.<\/p>\n
Funds may only be used for expenditures which specified in the budget appearing in the award notice.<\/p>\n
Funded students will be required to participate in NAU’s Undergraduate Symposium in late April.<\/p>\n
Recipients will also be required to submit a feedback form within 30 days of completion of the project but no later than May 15 for fall recipients and December 15 for spring recipients.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

The Jean Shuler Research Mini-Grant can also be used to fund up to $250 toward an NAU Graduate School Test Preparation<\/a> course.<\/p>\n
Applicants should use the same application link<\/strong> as the $500 research mini‑grant. When selecting the Test Preparation option, the application will display a separate set of questions<\/strong> tailored to this funding opportunity.<\/div>\n\n
