have completed at least one full-time semester at NAU in pursuit of your first bachelor’s degree.<\/li>\n

Some faculty include additional qualifications on their projects.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

The Program Manager will review the applications to verify that the applicants meet the minimum qualifications. All qualified applications for a project will be forwarded to the faculty mentor.<\/p>\n
The faculty mentors will contact the students they want to interview. Do NOT contact the faculty mentor listed directly!<\/p>\n
Internship offers will be made by the faculty mentors. Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee an interview or a position. If you are not selected for a project, you will be notified via e-mail.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Usually a student does not receive credit for an internship as you are paid for the work. Sometimes a faculty mentor-intern pair make the decision to create an introductory undergraduate research course for 1 hour of credit.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

At the end of each semester, interns will complete an online I2S feedback questionnaire.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

For each session, only a limited number of faculty requests are selected for funding. Internships are generally granted for one academic year but some may be considered for subsequent semesters.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

We understand that some people have a hard time working together. We encourage you to start by using the resources available for students at nau.edu\/ugr<\/a> to ensure that you are communicating your concerns to your faculty mentor. Additionally, please let the OURCA staff know about the issues you are having so we may also provide resources to the faculty mentor to assist in communicating. If you feel as if you cannot work with your intern after multiple attempts to correct the unacceptable behavior, please contact the OURCA staff to determine the next steps.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

What if I decide that the internship is too much of a time commitment? Accordion Closed<\/span><\/h4>\n <\/span>\n <\/div>\n <\/a>\n

If you are selected for an interview for the internship(s) that you applied for, it’s great to ask the faculty mentor about what is expected of you with regards to a time commitment. We hope that you take into account your schedule and how much time you are able to commit to the internship before you accept the position. However, if you have been hired and decide that it is too much of a time commitment the first thing to do is to talk with your faculty mentor and see if you can work something out. If nothing can be worked out with your faculty mentor, then it is possible for you to withdraw from the internship. Remember that this is a job, so as long as you communicate clearly what you are struggling with we will be able to work with you.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Can I still apply for an I2S position if I was awarded an I2S internship or Hooper Undergraduate Research Award (HURA) in the past? Accordion Closed<\/span><\/h4>\n <\/span>\n <\/div>\n <\/a>\n

Interns-to-Scholars is designed to be a stepping stone into research, because of this we prioritize sophomores for hire who have little to no research experience.
