regionally accredited U.S. institution, or an equivalent degree from an internationally recognized institution.<\/p>\n<p>Competitive applicants typically have a cumulative <strong>GPA of 3.0<\/strong> on a 4.0 scale (equivalent to a \u201cB\u201d average).\u00a0 If you do not meet the minimum GPA requirement your application may still be considered by the department based on your overall staying in their home country.\u00a0 Because these programs do not require study in the United States, a student visa is not needed.<\/p>\n<p>International students may pursue in-person degree programs only at NAU\u2019s Flagstaff or Yuma campuses.<\/p>\n<p>International students may only pursue in-person Graduate Certificate programs when combined with an eligible degree Therefore, is important to ensure that international graduate students obtain the appropriate visa.<\/p>\n<h4>Obtaining an F-1 or J-1 Visa<\/h4>\n<p>New international graduate students are required to apply for a non-immigrant <a href=\"https:\/\/travel.state.gov\/content\/travel\/en\/us-visas\/study\/student-visa.html\">F1 (degree-seeking)<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/travel.state.gov\/content\/travel\/en\/us-visas\/study\/exchange.html\">J1 (exchange) visa<\/a> to enter the United States for academic study. It is important that you start the visa process as soon as possible.
