{"id":9998,"date":"2013-01-28T10:20:30","date_gmt":"2013-01-28T17:20:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=9998"},"modified":"2013-01-30T14:29:12","modified_gmt":"2013-01-30T21:29:12","slug":"conference-to-encourage-blended-learning-strategies-at-nau","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/conference-to-encourage-blended-learning-strategies-at-nau\/","title":{"rendered":"Conference to encourage blended learning strategies at NAU"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/silt_banner.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9999 alignnone\" alt=\"Southwest Institute for Learning with Technology\" src=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/silt_banner.jpg\" width=\"650\" height=\"152\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>NAU President <b>John Haeger\u2019s<\/b> campuswide call for instructional innovation is the impetus behind the upcoming Southwest institute for Learning with Technology at NAU.<\/p>\n<p>The eLearning Center\u2019s annual two-day conference will be held Feb. 21-22 in the 1899 Ballroom in the North Union, where participants will engage in conversations about topics such as blended learning, course development strategies and the effective use of learning technology.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www2.nau.edu\/~d-elearn\/events\/regLogin.php?EVENT_ID=171\">Registration for the free conference is under way<\/a>, and space is limited.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to more than a dozen interactive sessions and workshops about classroom technology, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.nau.edu\/~d-elearn\/events\/schedule.php?EVENT_ID=171\">schedule<\/a> also includes a panel discussion on blended learning at NAU, led by <b>Don Carter<\/b>, director of the eLearning Center.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This year&#8217;s conference focuses on blended learning which demands active learning and supports numerous approaches to instruction,&#8221; Carter said. &#8220;It gives every student a voice and maximizes face-to-face interaction with faculty.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Another highlight of the conference will be the keynote address beginning at 2 p.m. Feb. 21 by Norm Vaughan. He is the coauthor of the book <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.josseybass.com\/WileyCDA\/WileyTitle\/productCd-0787987700.html\">Blended Learning in Higher Education<\/a><\/i> and education professor at Mount Royal University in Calgary, Alberta.<\/p>\n<p>A complete schedule is <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.nau.edu\/~d-elearn\/events\/schedule.php?EVENT_ID=171\">online<\/a>.
