The intern program, funded by a grant from the United States Department of Energy, is called \u201cIntegrating Two Worlds: A Successful Pathway for Native American Students from High School to College to National Nuclear Security Agency Careers.\u201dThe students participating in the internship are: undergraduate students\u00a0<strong>Janice Benally<\/strong>, chemistry major;<strong>Kimberly Danny<\/strong>, environmental engineering major;\u00a0<strong>Dustin Sagg<\/strong>, electrical engineering major;\u00a0<strong>Burnell Jones<\/strong>, environmental engineering major; graduate students<strong>Venessa Jim<\/strong>, chemistry; and\u00a0<strong>Toni Goldtooth<\/strong>, mathematics.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Andrea Thode<\/strong>, assistant professor in the School of Forestry, and several NAU Forestry students were featured in a recent issue of\u00a0<em>Fire Science Digest<\/em>. In the article, \u201cPreparing Tomorrow\u2019s Fire Professionals: Integration of Education, Training and Experience Through Science-Management Partnerships,\u201d Thode discusses hands-on learning opportunities that NAU offers students through mentorships, training and internships.
