Others in the group include University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth, Boise State and Cal State-Northridge.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s exciting to know that our engineering programs continue to be recognized as one of the Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs in America,&#8221; said\u00a0<strong>Barry Lutz<\/strong>, interim dean of the College of Engineering, Forestry and Natural Sciences. &#8220;This recognition is a tribute to our faculty&#8217;s commitment to sustained excellence in teaching.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<em>U.S. News &amp; World Report&#8217;s<\/em>\u00a02009 edition of America&#8217;s Best Colleges was published in the September edition of\u00a0<em>U.S. News &amp; World Report<\/em>\u00a0magazine, released Aug. 25.<\/p>\n<p>By working with external partners\u2014including industry colleagues and government officials\u2014students become involved with real engineering projects and experiences, something more traditional programs fail to provide.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With the hands-on learning students receive from this experience, they graduate with key skills and practical knowledge employers and graduate schools value,&#8221; Lutz said.<\/p>\n<p>NAU has nearly 1,500 engineering majors in six specialties, including civil, electrical, environmental and mechanical engineering, computer science and construction management.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/engineering-program-again-ranks-among-best-in-the-nation\/\">U.S. News &amp; World Report\u00a0has ranked the undergraduate engineering program at Northern Arizona University among the best in the nation for the fifth consecutive year.
