The NAU Art Museum will play with your eyes in the upcoming show, “Suitable Illusions: Recent Work by Adrian Hatfield.”<\/p>\n
The oil and mixed media exhibit will be open Aug. 5 through Sept. 27, with a reception from 6-8 p.m.
\nSept. 25.<\/p>\n
Hatfield uses silk-screen, collage and oil paints to portray and simplify the natural world through images of wallpaper designs, dinosaurs, birds, bats and postage stamps.<\/p>\n
“I’ve decided to focus primarily on the visual language of science,” Hatfield said. “Not only because the information and understanding of them is so limited, but because the public’s imaginings of them are so clear.”<\/p>\n
Hatfield received his master in fine art degree at the Ohio University in 2003, where he studied under NAU School of Art director\u00a0Tom Patin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n “Adrian has progressed very well as a professional artist and teacher in higher education, with work that depicts many of the same subject matter that writers and artists preoccupied with the sublime once did,” Patin said.<\/p>\n Museum hours are Tuesday-Saturday, noon -5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
