Togas, mistaken identities and some great local talent will combine to create a wild and bawdy time in Flagstaff.<\/p>\n
Northern Arizona University’s theater department has teamed up with Theatrikos Theatre Company for a co-production of\u00a0A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum<\/em>.<\/p>\n Written by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, the show tells the tale of a crafty slave who struggles to win the hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan for his young master in exchange for his freedom.<\/p>\n “Theatrikos and NAU Theater are pooling our resources to create what is hoped to be a long and successful collaboration of theater artists within our Flagstaff community,” said\u00a0Robert Yowell<\/strong>, professor of theater at NAU and director of the performance.<\/p>\n The performance will feature theater students\u00a0Jake Larowe<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Amber Stonebraker<\/strong>, along with community actors Dan Brady and Dennis Hattem.<\/p>\n “All of us at Theatrikos are extremely excited to be working with the faculty and staff of the NAU Theater Department,” said Lynn Spence, managing director of Theatrikos. “This is a great opportunity to bring all of our talents together to put on a fun summer production.”<\/p>\n A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum<\/em>\u00a0will be staged at NAU’s Clifford E. White Theatre July 10-12 and 17-19 at 8 p.m. with 2 p.m. matinees July 13 and 20.<\/p>\n Tickets are $12 for students, $15 for senior citizens and $18 for general admission.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
