SDS Flagstaff is a community organization, not a registered NAU student organization. Like any community group, it is welcome on campus and is expected to follow the policies that apply to community organizations. NAU has encouraged the group to apply for registered student organization status, but the group has not met basic requirements and declined to proceed further. The invitation to apply for and achieve student organization status remains open to SDS Flagstaff.<\/p>\n
Recently, a member of this group, who is not currently enrolled at NAU, was issued a trespass notice from campus after repeated violations of campus policy and multiple warnings. The infractions center on NAU’s policy on amplified sound, which applies to every individual and group on campus, regardless of viewpoint. The individual has been educated on these requirements, was offered information on how to gain approval for amplified sound at campus events and repeatedly ignored the guidance provided. The issue of a trespass notice is standard for individuals with multiple policy violations.<\/p>\n
If an enrolled student has policy infractions, that matter is referred through the Student Code of Conduct process.
