Northern Arizona University will host the <\/span>2025 Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA) Global Conference<\/span><\/a> on Oct. 8-10, bringing together scholars, practitioners and students for three days of panels, workshops and dialogue focused on building more effective and resilient public institutions.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The conference is a collaborative effort between NAU\u2019s Master of Public Affairs Program, Arizona State University\u2019s School of Public Affairs and the University of Arizona\u2019s School of Government and Public Policy.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are incredibly fortunate to co-host this global conference with ASU and UA,\u201d said <\/span>Sara Rinfret<\/span><\/b>, professor and MPA director. \u201cThis is a commendable example of three universities coming together to support public service, which is exciting for our state and profession. This event will help advance our mission of career readiness and for our students.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Shannon Portillo, director of ASU\u2019s School of Public Affairs, said the conference is a great way to feature NAU\u2019s commitment to public service and career readiness.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cCollaborating with NAU and UA to bring NASPAA\u2019s global conference to our state aligns well with our mission and provides the opportunity to demonstrate the leadership our state can provide in the future of public service education,\u201d Portillo said.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

More than 500 individuals are expected to attend the conference, and even more will see the benefits of this event.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are confident this collaborative spirit is to the benefit of the state of Arizona and our collective preparation of a first-class public service workforce for all corners of the state,” said Alex Braithwaite, director of UA\u2019s School of Government and Public Policy.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

NAU\u2019s president, <\/span>Jos\u00e9 Luis Cruz Rivera,<\/span><\/b> is scheduled to welcome attendees and kick off the conference. <\/span>Keynote speakers<\/span><\/a> this year are Lynn Malerba, chief of the Mohegan Tribe and former U.S. Treasurer, and <\/span>Steve Peru<\/span><\/b>, former Coconino County manager and NAU alumnus.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cConference goers will learn more about tribal governance and teaching from real-life practitioners,\u201d Rinfret said. \u201cThey will also have the opportunity to experience the beautiful Southwest and what it has to offer, as we are including a variety of excursions for them.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Attendees can participate in <\/span>guided excursions<\/span><\/a> to Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, the Grand Canyon and Sedona, as well as<\/span> yoga sessions and run groups<\/span><\/a>. Free childcare will be available.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
