The meeting also marked the end of Wiist\u2019s two-year term as a governing councilor for the 29,000-member association.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kristen Swanson<\/strong>, professor in the School of Communication, and\u00a0<strong>Constance DeVereaux<\/strong>, senior lecturer in comparative cultural studies, presented &#8220;Hopi Tourism Policy: Managing Cultural Resources,&#8221; at the 11th biennial Conference of Research on the Colorado Plateau.<\/li>\n<li>Professors from the School of Communication<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>partnered with the National Park Service to offer a multimedia studies course in the spring that documented park resources and projects in the Southern Colorado Plateau parks.\u00a0<strong>Laura L. Camden<\/strong>, assistant professor of photojournalism and documentary studies, and\u00a0<strong>Peter Friederici<\/strong>, associate professor of journalism, taught the course.\u00a0<strong>Mark Neumann<\/strong>, communication professor, and\u00a0<strong>Karen Underhill<\/strong>, director of special collections at Cline Library, also participated in the project.\n<p>Graduate student\u00a0<strong>Cori Cusker\u00a0<\/strong>and undergraduate students\u00a0<strong>Jim Benbow, Eric Betz, Cassandra Chee, Kate Durrell, Ryan Gahris, Hannah Green, Stephanie Kuhar, Ashley Palmer, Elaine Silverberg, Hanna Smolan, Brittany Tabor\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Yfat Yossifor\u00a0<\/strong>met with park staff and recorded their impressions in multimedia formats with a focus on photojournalism, audio documentary or print journalism. The project includes his interviews with park paleontologist Bill Parker and visits to the area on the project\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.southwestlearning.org\/student\/documentary\">website<\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ekkehart Malotki,<\/strong>\u00a0emeritus professor of linguistics, and Henry D.
