Every March since 1987, when Congress established Women\u2019s History Month, Americans from coast to coast have celebrated women\u2019s achievements through the centuries. It\u2019s a time to recognize those who spearheaded the women\u2019s suffrage movement, women leaders in business and other figures who have fought for women\u2019s equality, whether at the polls, in the workplace, at school or inside the doctor\u2019s office.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For the NAU community, Women\u2019s History Month is a chance to take part in a spate of fun and educational events on campus. Organized by the Commission on the Status of Women and other university offices and clubs, this year\u2019s events include a creative paint-and-sip night, a session on workplace wellness and a Women\u2019s History Month-specific cooking demo.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe strive to celebrate and highlight the achievements and contributions of women, both historically and in the present,\u201d said <\/span>Samantha Clifford<\/span><\/b>, who co-chairs the Commission on the Status of Women alongside <\/span>Heather Rist<\/span><\/b>. \u201cWhile it\u2019s essential to honor women’s contributions year-round, Women’s \u2018HerStory\u2019 Month provides a focused opportunity to highlight the ongoing work toward\u202fequity and representation.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
