The performance will take place on April 3, 5 and 6 in Ardrey Auditorium with English\u00a0super titles.<\/p>\n<p>A production of this opera in an English translation was performed by ASU Lyric Opera in 2003.<\/p>\n<p>The production, directed by\u00a0<strong>Nando Schellen<\/strong>\u00a0and conducted by NAU Orchestra director\u00a0<strong>Darko Butorac,<\/strong>\u00a0will feature the NAU Symphony Orchestra, the NAU Opera chorus and student soloists.<\/p>\n<p>The opera follows King Xerxes, who harbors unrequited love for a princess who loves his brother. Xerxes&#8217; behavior leads to confusing and humorous events and true love travels far before all is clarified.<\/p>\n<p>Student singers will alternate performances. They include\u00a0<strong>Abraham Camargo<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Maria Lopez<\/strong>\u00a0as King Serse;\u00a0<strong>Roland Mills<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Rachael Hirsch\u00a0<\/strong>as Arsamene;\u00a0<strong>Sheronda McKee<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Leah Allen<\/strong>\u00a0as Romilda;\u00a0<strong>Casey Dickey<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Charlotte Barnett<\/strong>\u00a0as Atalanta;\u00a0<strong>Noelle Francis<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Sarah Gilbert\u00a0<\/strong>as Amastre;\u00a0<strong>Jared Levin<\/strong>\u00a0and<strong>\u00a0Toby Kidd<\/strong>\u00a0as Ariodate;\u00a0<strong>David Bracamonte<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Daniel Kwast<\/strong>\u00a0as Elviro; and\u00a0<strong>Ryann Stephens<\/strong>\u00a0as Marco.<\/p>\n<p>Schellen will offer a 15 minute pre-performance lecture about Handel and Serse starting 45 minutes before each performance.<\/p>\n<p>The performances on April 3 and 5 will be at 7:30 p.m., and April 6 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $22.50 for adults, $18.50 for seniors, $10.50 for faculty and staff (NAU and Coconino Community College) and $8 for students and children.
