{"id":729,"date":"2012-05-10T10:29:37","date_gmt":"2012-05-10T17:29:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www2.nau.edu\/news-p\/wordpress\/?p=729"},"modified":"2012-10-30T14:21:48","modified_gmt":"2012-10-30T21:21:48","slug":"729","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/729\/","title":{"rendered":"NAU again ranks among top 100 institutions for Latinos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Northern Arizona University has once again made the list of the Top 100 colleges in the nation for Latinos, as reported by\u00a0<em>The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education<\/em>\u00a0magazine.<\/p>\n<p>In its May 7 edition,\u00a0<em>Hispanic Outlook<\/em>\u00a0ranks NAU 53rd for undergraduate degrees earned by Latinos, up two spots over last year. In a steady climb since 2003, NAU has advanced 16 places in the ranking, continually graduating more Latinos with bachelor\u2019s degrees each year.<\/p>\n<p>NAU also moved up six places over last year, to 23rd in the nation, for the number of master\u2019s degrees it granted to Latinos.<\/p>\n<p>The magazine also reported the top 10 institutions awarding bachelor\u2019s degrees to Latinos by academic program. NAU moved down a notch to ninth place for bachelor\u2019s degrees in education awarded to Latinos.<\/p>\n<p>The rankings were derived from data gathered from the U.S. Department of Education\u2019s Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System program. Degrees listed were conferred between July 1, 2010, and June 30, 2011.<\/p>\n<p>The complete list of top 100 institutions is available\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hispanicoutlook.com\/top100.htm\">online.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Of the 25,364 students enrolled at NAU in the fall 2011, 4,139 identified themselves as Hispanic American\u2014making up more than 16 percent of the university\u2019s student population.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/729\/\">Northern Arizona University has once again made the list of the Top 100 colleges in the nation for Latinos, as reported by\u00a0The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education\u00a0magazine.
