McDonald took third place in the Specialty Programming category for his show, &#8220;Big Mouth Talking,&#8221; which airs Tuesdays at 5 p.m. on KJACK, and also can be heard\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kjack.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">online<\/a>. McDonald will receive his award at the association&#8217;s conference in Las Vegas in April.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Department of Psychology<\/strong> announced it will receive a grant from the National Science Foundation for the Research Experience for Undergraduates Summer Internship program, which creates research opportunities for under-represented minority students. The 3-year, $300,000 grant will fund six students each summer to work with NAU psychology professors in conducting research in social, developmental, health and cognitive neuroscience psychology.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<strong>Mary I. Dereshiwsky<\/strong>, associate professor of educational leadership, made an invited presentation titled, &#8220;Continual Engagement: Why It&#8217;s Important in Effective Online Instruction,&#8221; at the Faculty Development Institute sponsored by the Learning Resources Network in Savannah, Georgia, on Feb. 25.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/in-the-spotlight-feb-20-2008\/\">Kudos to these faculty, staff and students Do you have a spotlight item to share with the NAU community?
