Internationally recognized professor Connie Staley will be featured as part of the Provost’s Speaker Series on Transformations in Teaching and Learning.<\/p>\n
Staley, a professor of communication and director of the Freshman Seminar Program at University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, will discuss “Mission Possible: Teaching Strategies to Help Today’s Students Realize their Potential,” from 2:30 to 4 p.m. March 28 in Havasupi A\/B in the University Union.<\/p>\n
Staley will engage faculty in looking at the challenges faced in teaching today’s students and in exploring “practical, innovative strategies for use in their own classrooms.”<\/p>\n
“Dr. Staley’s work has transformed the ways many faculty approach their teaching of undergraduates,” Provost\u00a0Liz Grobsmith<\/strong>\u00a0said. “We are very fortunate to have her help us learn from her work.”<\/p>\n Staley is the author of multiple books about university teaching, including\u00a0Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lectern<\/em>\u00a0and a text for first-year students,\u00a0FOCUS on College Success<\/em>.<\/p>\n The Provost’s Speaker Series brings internationally known figures to campus to discuss with faculty NAU’s strategic goal of being a learning-centered environment where all students can thrive.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
