{"id":7120,"date":"2011-01-28T14:52:16","date_gmt":"2011-01-28T21:52:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=7120"},"modified":"2012-12-05T15:07:25","modified_gmt":"2012-12-05T22:07:25","slug":"in-the-spotlight-jan-28-2011","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/in-the-spotlight-jan-28-2011\/","title":{"rendered":"In the Spotlight: Jan. 28, 2011"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Kudos to these faculty, staff and students<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Do you have a spotlight item to share with the NAU community?<\/p>\n<p>E-mail your announcements to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:Inside@nau.edu\" target=\"_blank\">Inside@nau.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Harvey Charles<\/strong>, vice provost for International Education,\u00a0<strong>Karen Pugliesi<\/strong>, vice provost for Academic Affairs, and\u00a0<strong>Liz Grobsmith<\/strong>, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, conducted a session at the 97th\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aacu.org\/press_room\/press_releases\/2011\/finalam.cfm\">annual meeting<\/a>\u00a0of the Association of American Colleges and Universities in San Francisco, held Jan. 26-29. \u00a0Their session was titled, \u201cTransforming Global Learning into a Universal Requirement: \u00a0Embedding Global Learning in General Education, Major Programs and Across the Disciplines.\u201d The conference theme was \u201cGlobal Positioning: \u00a0Essential Learning, Student Success and the Currency of U.S. Degrees,\u201d and with nearly 2,000 participants, it was the largest conference in the association\u2019s history.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_7121\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7121\" style=\"width: 206px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7121\" title=\"mennonites\" src=\"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/laura.jpg\" alt=\"Mennonites in Texas\" width=\"206\" height=\"288\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-7121\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo by Laura Camden from her exhibit &#8216;Mennonites in Texas: The Quiet in the Land,&#8217; now on display in Texas.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Laura L. Camden<\/strong>, assistant professor of photography in the School of Communication, has a solo exhibit of her photographic work at the International Cultural Center at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas through March 2.\u00a0The exhibit, \u201cMennonites in Texas: The Quiet in the Land\u201d, contains over 25 of Camden&#8217;s original photographs on loan from the Center for American History at The University of Texas at Austin, Briscoe Center where Camden\u2019s photographic archive is housed.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sarah Holcomb<\/strong>, a lecturer for the W.A.
