Starting Oct. 7, NAU\u2019s School of Art and Design will host free Saturday Art Studio Sessions for <\/span>children in<\/span> first to fifth grade, along with their parents<\/span> or guardians<\/span>. The classes will last through Oct.<\/span> 28.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Saturday Studio for Kids is a student-run program and is part of the <\/span>art education program offered to undergraduate students.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cArt education students get teaching experience while offering a means to outreach to Flagstaff communities\u201d<\/span> said <\/span>Andrew Tegarden<\/span><\/b>, assistant professor in the College of Arts and Letters. <\/span>\u201c<\/span>We want kids to start seeing themselves as being college-bound, particularly art program-bound.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Children will experience numerous learning opportunities and objectives such as <\/span>introduction to art, collaborating in a team, <\/span>creative problem-solving and building up their creative and soft skills.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Parents and guardians are able to register by scanning the QR code until classes fill up. Classes will run from 10 a.m. to noon every Saturday in October at the Performing and Fine Arts building, Bldg.<\/span> 37.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
