Starting Sept. 15, NAU will host a series of activities in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month which runs through Oct. 15, and honors the history and contributions of the Hispanic\/Latine community.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>NAU is my home\u201d \u00a0said <\/span>Claudia Rodas<\/span><\/b>, HSI Advisor to the Provost and associate professor at the College of Education.<\/span> \u201cI was not ready for the challenges that I faced when my family and I moved to the U.S. from Guatemala, though finding a sense of belonging on a statewide campus was possible. Despite completing my work online, I was able to build meaningful connections with the whole NAU community.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>NAU strives to develop a strong, multicultural, driven community that values knowledge gained from many worldviews,<\/span> combining thousands of efforts, working together to <\/span>connect us all as OneNAU or UnaNAU.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>\u201c<\/span>NAU is a place of learning, growth and enrichment. By celebrating Hispanic\/Latine heritage, NAU contributes to the overall education of its students, enabling them to engage with diverse cultures and viewpoints,\u201d Rodas said. <\/span>\u201cNAU\u2019s celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month is important to me because this month recognizes the intersectionality within our community; it encourages dialogue and understanding among Hispanics\/Latine from various backgrounds.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>With the contribution of different departments and faculty, NAU brings to life a 35-year nationwide tradition that shares the undying heritage and cultural richness with all Lumberjacks in an inclusive environment. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
