Northern Arizona University Continuing Education offers summer courses for the whole family\u2014in Flagstaff, Phoenix, and online.<\/p>\n<p>Youth, adults, and professionals can delve into non-credit courses for personal enrichment or professional development. Courses begin in June and July. From the Young Author\u2019s Day Camp to Data Analytics and Data-Driven Decisions for Everyone and Intro to Brewing Science, it\u2019s fun and easy to learn something new at NAU this summer.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Summer program highlights <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>This summer, NAU Continuing Education is offering exciting non-credit courses to help you learn more about the topics that interest you or your family. In this course, you will also practice using the Microsoft Office Suite\u2014including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook\u2014in a professional context to prepare for a career in any digital workplace.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course title: 3D Printing Level 1 Workshop<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dates: July 17-27, including the weekend<br \/>\nDuration: 11 days<br \/>\nTime: 8:00-5:00 daily for the in-person workshop (July 22-27); otherwise, online and asynchronous<br \/>\nLocation: Online and Flagstaff&#8211;in person<br \/>\nRegistration deadline: May 31<br \/>\nCost: $179<\/p>\n<p>Join our non-credit Level 1 3D Printing Workshop for a unique experience in state-of-the-art software in computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), and in general manufacturing and 3D printing\/additive manufacturing-specific techniques. The non-credit micro-credential and certificate will take two weeks to complete. Participants will spend one week on their own learning the fundamentals in an online course and one week on campus within our computer labs and IDEA lab.<\/p>\n<p>For the first half of the in-person workshop, participants will begin learning computer-aided design via a software package and the fundamentals of engineering graphics specific to mechanical design. Then, participants will learn about various manufacturing techniques (including 3D printing) to properly select the appropriate processes for manufacturing solutions. Finally, participants will finish the certification by gaining more 3D printing-specific CAD-CAM knowledge, practicing printing parts on machines at NAU, and ultimately generating a solution to a real-world problem of their own!<\/p>\n<p>The audience for this program will be those seeking professional development hours that do not have a mechanical engineering background, K-12 educators looking to expand their capabilities in the K-12 engineering course offerings, students on the NAU campus (and extended campuses), students who aren\u2019t fully committed to a degree program, hobbyists trying to hone their skills, and\/or continuing education knowledge seekers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course title: <\/strong><strong>Data Analytics and Data-Driven Decisions for Everyone<br \/>\n<\/strong>Dates: July 11 \u2013 August 16<br \/>\nDuration: Six weeks, Tues.<br \/>\nTime: 6:30\u20138:30 p.m.<br \/>\nLocation: Online<br \/>\nRegistration deadline: July 5<br \/>\nCost: $249<br \/>\nRecommended ages: Adults, 16 years and older<\/p>\n<p>Learn how to employ analytics for making data-driven decisions in business. Course topics include decision science analysis techniques such as linear programming, break-even analysis, and cross-over analysis, among others.
