Zartner\u2019s sculptures and drawings have been exhibited in numerous wide-ranging venues both locally and beyond.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Most Promising Graduate Student Research Scholar<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Kevin Hirschi.\u00a0<\/strong>Hirschi studies the process of language learning in the applied linguistics Ph.D. program.<\/p>\n<h3>Graduate Research Mentorship Award<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Laura Noll,<\/strong> Department of Psychological Sciences.\u00a0Noll works with master\u2019s students in psychological sciences and doctoral students in our interdisciplinary health program.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Graduate Artistic or Creative Work Mentorship Award<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Sherwin Bitsui.\u00a0<\/strong>Bitsui mentors students in creative writing as a member of the Department of English.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Most Significant Artistic\/Creative Work<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Nicole Walker<\/strong>, Department of English.\u00a0In recent years she has published three powerful essays in <em>The New York Times<\/em>, books entitled <em>Sustainability: A Love Story<\/em> and <em>Processed Meats: Essays on Food, Flesh and Navigating Disaster<\/em> and numerous other works.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Most Significant Research\/Scholarly Work<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Maiah Jaskoski<\/strong>, Department of Politics and International Affairs.\u00a0Jaskoski\u2019s book, <em>The Politics of Extraction: Territorial Rights, Participatory Institutions and Conflict in Latin America<\/em>, was published this year.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Undergraduate Research Mentorship Award<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Naomi Lee<\/strong>, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Lee does impactful health-related research that engages a large number of students.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Undergraduate Artistic or Creative Work Mentorship Award<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Kyoungmee (Kate) Byun<\/strong>, School of Art.\u00a0Byun was recognized for her mentorship of students in the interior design program.<\/p>\n<h3>Most Impactful Community-engaged Research, Scholarship, or Creative Activity<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Debra Edgerton<\/strong>, School of Art, for her exhibition \u201cThings Not Seen\u201d exhibited at the Murdoch Community Center in association with the Southside Community Association.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jani Ingram<\/strong>, the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, for her many research projects conducted in partnership with tribal communities that explore the causes of health disparities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/2023-research-and-creative-awards\/\">Most Promising New Research Scholar Charn McAllister, The W.A.
