With that often comes some long car or plane rides as you travel to visit friends and family. To help keep you entertained along the way, the NAU Communications team put together a list of their favorite podcasts\u2014from stories to help get you in the holiday spirit to informative and ridiculous accounts behind some of the most notorious villains in history\u2014they are sure to make your travels fly by (and give you a fun topic of conversation for when you arrive)!<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Carly\u2019s recommendation: <\/span><\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thisamericanlife.org\/47\/christmas-and-commerce\"><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Christmas and Commerce<\/span><\/b><\/a><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> (from This American Life)<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">From This American Life, \u201cChristmas and Commerce\u201d is one of my favorite episodes of all time, specifically Act Two: David Sedaris\u2019s \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thisamericanlife.org\/47\/christmas-and-commerce\/act-two-19\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Santaland Diaries<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,&#8221; where he narrates a first-person account of working as an elf at the Macy\u2019s department store in New York, listening to which has become a yearly tradition. His cynical and captivating storytelling will have you laughing out loud as he shares a side of the holidays that often goes untold: the backend of Christmas retail.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Heidi\u2019s recommendation: <\/span><\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/two-hot-takes\/id1553199104\"><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Two Hot Takes<\/span><\/b><\/a><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cTwo Hot Takes\u201d is a perfect road trip podcast. It\u2019s irreverent, funny, a little on the profane side (do not listen with kids in the car), and most episodes are upwards of 90 minutes. The hosts\u2014a bunch of 20-something friends\u2014react to Reddit stories and give relationship advice, moral judgments and pepper their own stories into the lives of Internet strangers\u2019 stories. It is not serious, it\u2019s not about important issues (although they hit on a few) and it is generally just a frothy delight for when you don\u2019t want to have to think about anything but have a few laughs, offer your own judgments and feel better about whatever family drama awaits you because at least you don\u2019t have to choose sides between the baker who secretly put salt instead of the sugar in the cake and the overly critical relative who never says thank you.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Cynthia\u2019s recommendation: <\/span><\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iheart.com\/podcast\/105-behind-the-bastards-29236323\/\"><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Behind the Bastards<\/span><\/b><\/a><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Hosted by journalist and former war correspondent Robert Evans, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iheart.com\/podcast\/105-behind-the-bastards-29236323\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Behind the Bastards<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> is a history lesson cloaked in humorous storytelling about \u201cthe worst humans in history and exposes the bizarre realities of their lives.\u201d Learn about Hitler\u2019s uncontrollable flatulence and the young adult novels that helped form his monstrous ideology. Along with Hitler\u2019s beer hall putsch and Mussolini&#8217;s march on Rome, listeners can learn more about unsavory contemporary figures like Elizabeth Holmes and Alex Jones. Not the best choice for younger audiences or the faint of heart; however, those who make it through might begin to understand the unfathomable: why people do wrong and why they get away with it.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:257}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Melody\u2019s recommendation: <\/span><\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/wild-til-9\/id1524083348\"><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Wild \u2018Til 9<\/span><\/b><\/a><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:0,&quot;335551620&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:257}\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This podcast is perfect for anyone and everyone who feels like they are \u2018adulting incorrectly.\u2019 (Let\u2019s be honest\u2014Do any of us know what we are actually doing?) <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Wild \u2019Til 9 is about relationships, spotting the red flags, giving the green lights and the lifestyle in which this polar-opposite couple found themselves.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> Hosts Lauren Riihimaki, AKA LaurDIY on Youtube, and Jeremy Lewis tell all their stories from being a former fraternity president and dramatic tell-all&#8217;s about being an influencer for the past decade to adopting their dog\u2019s dad together.
