The motion was passed during the regularly scheduled meeting held this week at the University of Arizona in Tucson.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/azregents.asu.edu\/palac\/newsreleases\/Zero%20Tolerance%20Resolution.pdf\">resolution<\/a>\u00a0requires any university system employee to immediately report violent or threatening conduct to law enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the wake of events involving allegations of abuse and violence at other higher education institutions in our country, we are mindful to reaffirm and remind everyone that the Arizona University System has a zero-tolerance policy toward any acts of intimidation, harassment, threats or violence,\u201d said Regent\u00a0<strong>Dennis DeConcini<\/strong>, who offered the resolution.<\/p>\n<p>Northern Arizona University President\u00a0<strong>John Haeger<\/strong>\u00a0recently sent a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www4.nau.edu\/president\/112811.html\">letter<\/a>\u00a0to faculty, staff and students reiterating university policies that ensure a safe learning and working environment.<\/p>\n<p>The regents also received reports on financial aid, enterprise initiative metrics and audits for each of the universities. Regent\u00a0<strong>Anne Mariucci<\/strong>\u00a0commended all three universities for clean audits and noted NAU\u2019s careful planning for reserve funds.<\/p>\n<p>Rebecca Gau, director of the Governor\u2019s Office of Education Innovation, attended the meeting to present Gov. Jan Brewer\u2019s Education Reform Plan.<\/p>\n<p>This was the final meeting for regents\u00a0<strong>Ernest Calder\u00f3n<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Fred DuVal<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Robert McLendon<\/strong>. All three regents\u2019 terms are set to end Dec. 31. Gov. Brewer appointed\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/azregents.asu.edu\/palac\/newsreleases\/Jay%20Heiler%20Appointed%20to%20Arizona%20Board%20of%20Regents%20by%20Governor%20Brewer.pdf\">Jay Heiler<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0of Phoenix to replace DuVal.
