{"id":6253,"date":"2011-12-09T10:27:41","date_gmt":"2011-12-09T17:27:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stage.headlessnauedu-b6hgdzckfdgxgzhe.westus-01.azurewebsites.net\/?p=6253"},"modified":"2012-11-27T10:35:40","modified_gmt":"2012-11-27T17:35:40","slug":"nau-mens-basketball-coach-mike-adras-resigns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/nau-mens-basketball-coach-mike-adras-resigns\/","title":{"rendered":"NAU men\u2019s basketball coach Mike Adras resigns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Northern Arizona University announced today that\u00a0<strong>Mike Adras<\/strong>\u00a0has resigned as head coach of the NAU men\u2019s basketball team to pursue other opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCoach Adras has been a valuable member of the NAU and Flagstaff community for 20 years,\u201d said NAU President\u00a0<strong>John Haeger<\/strong>. \u201cWe thank him for all he has contributed to the basketball program and to the university, and we and wish him the best in his future endeavors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Athletics director\u00a0<strong>Jim Fallis<\/strong>\u00a0announced that\u00a0<strong>Dave Brown<\/strong>, a long-time NAU employee, will serve as interim head coach while a search for a permanent replacement is conducted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s important to maintain stability in the program, and I\u2019m confident in Dave\u2019s abilities,\u201d Fallis said.<\/p>\n<p>Brown is a member of the NAU Athletics Hall of Fame and former head coach of the NAU&#8217;s women&#8217;s basketball team and Yavapai College men\u2019s team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m personally committed to the success of the men\u2019s basketball program,\u201d Brown said. \u201cI have worked closely with the athletes and the program for years, and I\u2019m confident the Lumberjacks will perform well on and off the court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Adras served as assistant basketball coach for seven years before becoming head coach in 1999. He compiled a record of 193-170 as head coach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am proud of what my team has built at NAU and of our student athletes,\u201d Adras said.<\/p>\n<p>Brown\u2019s first meeting with players and assistant coaches is today.
