{"id":60843,"date":"2020-09-30T15:17:43","date_gmt":"2020-09-30T22:17:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/?p=60843"},"modified":"2020-09-30T15:22:11","modified_gmt":"2020-09-30T22:22:11","slug":"national-association-of-schools-of-theatre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/national-association-of-schools-of-theatre\/","title":{"rendered":"NAU earns accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Theatre"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Northern Arizona University is officially an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST).<\/p>\n<p>The multi-year process now puts NAU in rarified company\u2014it is one of around 190 institutions to carry the accreditation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am so proud of my faculty, staff and the past students (who helped) in this process,\u201d said Kathleen McGeever, chair of the Department of Theatre. \u201cIt is an achievement to be celebrated and speaks to the quality, hands-on, experiential program we offer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>NAST establishes national standards for education in theatre and theatre-related disciplines, and provides assistance to institutions and individuals engaged in artistic, scholarly, educational and other theatre-related endeavors.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a great honor for not just our department of theatre but for our college and the university as a whole,\u201d said College of Arts and Letters Dean Chris Boyer. \u201cWe now join the short list of universities in this country that are accredited institutional members of the NAST.
