Doing so will also support ongoing COVID-19 mitigation strategies.<\/p>\n<p>The vaccine is a simple, but powerful defense against contracting the flu. It works by introducing an inactivated form of the virus into the body. This allows the immune system to develop antibodies so that a later exposure to the live virus results in lessened severity or complete avoidance of sickness caused by influenza and minimizes hospitalizations.<\/p>\n<p>NAU students and employees, as well as employees\u2019 dependents over age 16 can receive a flu shot from CHS. The cost of the shot is covered by most insurance companies, and is also covered by Louie Care. Individuals should have their insurance card on hand.<\/p>\n<p>CHS will offer flu shots on a drop-in basis during immunization clinics inside the South Gym at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nau.edu\/hlc\/health-and-learning-center\/\">Health and Learning Center<\/a>\u00a0(HLC) during the following days and times:<\/p>\n<p>Sept. 25:\u00a09 a.m. to noon<\/p>\n<p>Sept. 30: 10 a.m. to noon<\/p>\n<p>Oct. 6: 2-4 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Oct. 14: 10 a.m. to noon<\/p>\n<p>Oct. 19: 8-11 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Oct. 29:\u00a01-3 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Nov. 5:\u00a02-4 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Nov. 10: 2-4 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Individual appointments at CHS can also be scheduled by calling (928) 523-2131 or visiting the <a href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/campus-health-services\">CHS website<\/a> and logging into the patient portal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/flu-clinic-2020\/\">Lumberjacks are encouraged to protect themselves against the influenza virus by taking advantage of flu shots offered by\u00a0Campus Health Services\u00a0(CHS).
