Hernandez was the only student from Arizona selected for the program, and the funds will support her education as she finishes her degree.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jillian Peart<\/strong>, who is working on a master\u2019s in public health and completing licensure as a registered dietitian, received the Arizona Public Health Association 2020 Internship Leadership Award. The $1,000 scholarship will cover living expenses during her internship with Step-Up Cancer Control and Prevention.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>NAU Shrine of the Ages Choir<\/strong>, directed by <strong>Edith Copley<\/strong>, and NAU alumni performed Elaine Hagenberg\u2019s \u201cMy Companion\u201d in a <a href=\"https:\/\/musephoenix.org\/catharsis\/\">virtual choir performance titled \u201cCatharsis: A Virtual Choir Concert.\u201d<\/a> The NAU choir students and alumni joined hundreds of voices and multiple choirs from around the world.<\/li>\n<li>Several recent NAU alumni authored articles concerning water and its relation to culture in the <a href=\"https:\/\/ucowr.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/JCWRE_169_Full_Issue.pdf\">Journal of Contemporary Water Reasearch &amp; Education<\/a> alongside various <a href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/in-the-spotlight-may-8-2020\/#.Xr1_gWhKjIV\">NAU faculty members<\/a>.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Lindsey Jones<\/strong> and <strong>Jonathan Credo<\/strong> were first and second authors, respectively, on the article titled \u201cDissolved Uranium and Arsenic in Unregulated Groundwater Sources\u2013Western Navajo Nation.\u201d Jones holds a masters in environmental sciences and policy and Credo is currently a doctoral student at the University of Arizona College of Medicine.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Marie Jones<\/strong> and Credo were first and second authors, respectively, on the article titled \u201cArsenic Concentrations in Ground and Surface Waters across Arizona Including Native Lands.\u201d Marie Jones was an undergraduate when this project began and her research focused on ecotoxicology.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/student-spotlight-may-15-2020\/\">In the Student Spotlight: May 15, 2020 Kudos to these students Do you have a spotlight item to share with the NAU community?
