Rankings are determined by combining scores from respected college ranking systems with reviews from students and acknowledgment to programs that have a positive impact on graduates\u2019 careers.<\/li>\n<li>Senior lecturer of communication <strong>Angel\u00e9 Anderfuren<\/strong> was featured in the article \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/culture\/archive\/2020\/04\/post-pandemic-vacations-pinterest\/609907\/\">The Strange Pleasure of Planning a Post-Pandemic Vacation<\/a>\u201d published in The Atlantic. The article shares how Pinterest is helping people plan vacations after the pandemic. Anderfuren adds her insight about how planning helps stave off anxious feelings during the pandemic.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kimberley Curtis<\/strong>, senior lecturer of sustainable communities, wrote a chapter titled, \u201cCriminalization and Militarization: Civic World Making in Arizona\u2019s Agricultural Borderlands,\u201d published in \u201cThe Immigrant-Food Nexus: Borders, Labor and Identity in North America.\u201d The book is a body of work that examines the intersections between food and immigration in North America.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Karen Jarratt-Snider<\/strong>, associate professor and chair of the Department of Applied Indigenous Studies, and <strong>Marianne Nielsen<\/strong>, professor of criminology and criminal justice, co-edited two books published this year. Jarratt-Snider authored two chapters in the first book titled, \u201cIndigenous Environmental Justice.\u201d Nielsen authored a chapter in the second book titled, \u201cTraditional, National, and International Law and Indigenous Communities.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong>Olivia Lindly<\/strong>, associate professor of health sciences, was a lead author on the article, \u201cService Use Classes Among School-aged Children From the Autism Treatment Network Registry,\u201d which explored the use of specific services to help optimize health for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Lindly also co-authored the article, \u201cFamilies\u2019 Experiences With Family Navigation Services in the Autism Treatment Network,\u201d which examined the effectiveness of family navigation to provide information and support to families of children with ASD. Both articles were published in the April issue of <a href=\"https:\/\/pediatrics.aappublications.org\/\">Pediatrics<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>NAU was featured in the Spring 2020 issue of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leadershipexchange-digital.com\/lexmail\/2020spring\/MobilePagedReplica.action?utm_source=newsletter&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=TXLEAD200409002&amp;pm=1&amp;folio=10#pg12\">Leadership Exchange<\/a>. Vice president of student affairs <strong>Erin Grisham <\/strong>contributed the article, \u201cLeverage Data to Respond to Needs of First-generation Students,\u201d to the cover piece, \u201cMission Critical: Championing First-generation Student Success.\u201d The contribution explains how NAU is working to continually support first-generation students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"search-results-excerpt-link\" href=\"https:\/\/in.nau.edu\/news\/in-the-spotlight-april-17-2020\/\">Kudos to these faculty, staff and programs Do you have a spotlight item to share with the NAU community?
