The article explains why some people believe in using violence for political ends and sympathize with violent political groups, but do not perform violent acts or join violent organizations. Jaskoski and her collaborators analyzed the interviews of 129 nonviolent activists in 12 countries experiencing violent internal conflict.<\/li>\n<li><strong>David Van Ness<\/strong>, senior lecturer of art, and <strong>Matthew Salanga<\/strong>, assistant professor of biological sciences, will present their attempt to create proteins from Beethoven\u2019s 8<sup>th<\/sup> piano sonata in C minor and a generative musical theme on Beethoven through gene-altering methods at the College Music Society Pacific Southwest conference. Intern to Scholar student <strong>Zachary DeHaven<\/strong> supported their efforts by creating a sorting algorithm that assigns Zebrafish codons to musical notes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kurt Lancaster<\/strong>, professor in creative media and film; <strong>Toni D\u2019Aztlan-Smith<\/strong>, former assistant professor of practice; Shelley Smithson, independent journalist; and <strong>Joshua Biggs<\/strong>, photographer and marketing manager at NAU; created a film titled, \u201cThe Frybread Myth: Fighting for Food Sovereignty in Native America.\u201d The film examines the Native American Food Sovereignty movement and was accepted into the Ethnographic Film Festival held in Paris.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Paulina Swiatkowski<\/strong>, lecturer of communications, authored a chapter titled, \u201cWe aim to please: Reading into rational dynamics,\u201d published in \u201cCommunication in Kink: Understanding the influence of the Fifty Shades of Grey phenomenon.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Regents\u2019 professor of politics and international affairs <strong>Zachary Smith<\/strong> authored the second edition of \u201cSustainability: If It\u2019s Everything, Is It Nothing?\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong>Brian Petersen<\/strong>, director of sustainable communities and professor of geography, planning and recreation, coauthored the article, \u201cReconceptualizing Climate Change Denial: Ideological Denialism Misdiagnoses Climate Change and Limits Effective Action,\u201d in \u201cHuman Ecology Review.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Assistant professor of criminology and criminal justice <strong>Brooke A. de Heer<\/strong> co-authored the article, \u201cPornography, Masculinity, and Sexual Aggression on College Campuses,\u201d recently accepted for publication in the Journal of Interpersonal Violence.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Amy Horn<\/strong>, senior lecturer of photography has six photographs on display at the Phippen Museum. The photographs are in the show, <a href=\"http:\/\/phippenartmuseum.org\/exhibitions-collections\/upcoming-exhibits\">CLICK: EXPOSE THE WEST<\/a>, on display in the Marley Gallery starting March 7.<\/li>\n<li>Regents\u2019 Professor <strong>Pete Ful<\/strong><strong>\u00e9<\/strong> was selected for a Fulbright Scholarship to Morocco. He plans to work with local partners to conduct research on forest and fire ecology in the Talassemtane National Park area.<\/li>\n<li>Affordable Schools ranked <strong>Northern Arizona University<\/strong> No. 23 on its list of <a href=\"http:\/\/affordableschools.net\/online-bachelors-early-childhood-education\">50 Best Affordable Online Early Childhood Education Degree Programs<\/a> and No. 11 on its list of <a href=\"http:\/\/affordableschools.net\/online-bachelors-dental-hygiene\">25 Best Affordable Online Dental Hygiene Degree Programs<\/a>.
