For the tenth year in a row, the Northern Arizona University women’s soccer\u00a0team received the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award last week, continuing the program’s strong tradition of outstanding work in the classroom.<\/p>\n
The Team Academic Award recognizes teams that post a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. For the 2011-12 academic year, the Lumberjacks posted a \u00a03.23 team GPA.<\/p>\n
“It shows our commitment toward bringing in quality student-athletes to not only compete in athletic events but aspire to do well at Northern Arizona University,” said head coach Andre Luciano<\/strong>. “We’ve been very blessed to have great academic advisors during my tenure here, and the student-athletes have been fortunate to have faculty that care about them and that have been great mentors and role models for them in the classroom.”<\/p>\n The Lumberjacks were one of five Big Sky teams to receive the award.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
